1998-2008: 10th anniversary!!!

1998-2008: Home of Charlotte’s Children Foundation (HCCF) has already reached its ten-year milestone in Jamaica, a date that recalls the first three children being welcomed into their new home and accompanied to their rooms. During this period of intense work we have had to overcome some very difficult moments. However, with great determination and perseverance towards our goals the results are more than positive. Children who were afraid of everything and were unable to recognize colours, numbers and letters, are now adolescents with good schoool results, excellent interpersonal skills and a life full of creative acitivities.

Kemisha plays the violin and obtained ‘distinction’ in the Royal School of Music examinations (June 2007); Jodiann had two of her poems published in the local newspaper - one was published in the Benvenuto Magazine of Milan (March 2008); Sashaunie continues to be acclaimed for her talent in figurative art and Andre is among the top students of his class as well as being a very promising football player and athlete.

As well as the twelve children who are permanent residents of the home and the twelve living with Jamaican families, HCCF continues to assist some 200 children with hot meals, didactic material and clothing. Over the years, dozens of children have been given the opportunity to participate in Music Lessons, Charlotte’s Cooking Classes, Charlotte’s Football Team, Computer Classes, Psychological individual and group counselling. These activities enabled the youngsters to grow psychologically, improve their education, learn new skills and above all have HOPE. They have also learned that regardless of their disadvantaged social conditions, determination and self esteem are important in finding a positive role in society.
